Gundari Resort, Folegandros, Greece
Where architecture disappears into the landscape.

Perched above the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea, Gundari Resort on the Greek island of Folegandros is a striking example of architecture that knows when to remain silent.

Designed by Block722, the 27-suite luxury retreat stretches across 80 acres of rugged Cycladic landscape. Rather than competing with its dramatic surroundings, the architecture follows the natural contours of the cliffs, becoming almost invisible within the terrain.
When Less Becomes Luxury
Stone walls trace the rocky landscape, while timber structures, warm marble and earthy tones create a subtle dialogue between nature and architecture. The buildings appear to grow organically from the island itself.

Inside, understated interiors combine bespoke furniture, vintage pieces, ceramics and carefully selected artworks. Soft textures and natural materials bring warmth to the minimalist spaces.

Private pools, open-air showers and generous terraces dissolve the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, placing the Aegean Sea at the centre of the experience.
Designed to Belong
The resort’s spa and executive suites are discreetly embedded into the hillside, while the restaurant opens towards sweeping sea views.

For Block722, preserving the island’s character was essential. Building on remote Folegandros required careful planning, particularly in transporting materials and limiting the impact on the natural environment.

Completed in 2024, Gundari offers a compelling interpretation of contemporary Cycladic architecture.
Here, true luxury is not about adding more, but about allowing nature to take centre stage.
