INFINITY EDGE by Tropical Tones – Azhiyur, Kerala, India
A contemporary residence in Kerala, INFINITY EDGE by Tropical Tones explores the relationship between architecture, landscape and everyday living through an expressive roofline, interconnected spaces and carefully integrated outdoor areas.
Architecture shaped by its setting
Located in Azhiyur, near Calicut in the Indian state of Kerala, INFINITY EDGE is a residential project designed by Tropical Tones, an architectural practice committed to creating spaces that respond to their surroundings.
The residence occupies an irregular, tapering plot, presenting an opportunity to explore a distinctive spatial arrangement. Rather than imposing a conventional rectangular plan, the design follows the geometry of the site, bringing together living spaces, bedrooms, landscaped areas and outdoor terraces.
A dialogue between contemporary design and tropical living
The architectural composition combines clean geometric volumes with a prominent sloping roof, giving the residence a distinctive silhouette.
The ground floor accommodates the principal living and dining areas, kitchen and bedrooms, while the upper level introduces additional private accommodation, a family living area, a study and outdoor spaces.
A protected courtyard and landscaped margins establish connections between the interior and the surrounding greenery, offering visual continuity and opportunities for natural light.
The interplay between enclosed rooms, covered spaces and terraces reflects an approach to residential architecture particularly relevant to Kerala’s tropical environment.
Spaces that belong
For Tropical Tones, architecture begins with an understanding of place, culture and people. The practice describes its philosophy as an effort to create functional and enduring spaces that harmonise with their context.
INFINITY EDGE illustrates this approach through its site-responsive planning, layered volumes and integration of outdoor areas.
The result is a contemporary residential design that brings together spatial clarity and a strong relationship with its setting.
